Time for some Ashley

Hey there! I’m baaa aaaack, haha. So how was your guys’ weekends? So a little bit about my weekend, I saw Toy Story 1&2 in 3D, and it was awesome! So nostalgic! If you’d like a little blast from the past, deffinetly check it out. And last night, I went to the “Moveis That Rock” series at the ICC and saw Up! It was so conveinent just taking the elevator to the 2nd floor of the ICC and watching FREE movie, that I love! Check out those events, epsecially if you’ve got nothing to do on a boring Sunday or Monday night!! I also went and cheered on our Lady Ruggers at the Women’s Rubgy match on Sunday. Unfortunately, Wentworth won by a dissapointing 2 trys. Nonetheless, it was still a great match to watch! If you’re into watching sports, you should deffinetly check out some of the Men’s and Women’s games. Admission is FREE! If you want a schedule of games, e-mail me at Ashley_Tello@student.uml.edu and I’ll give you all the information you could ever want!!

I also finished up my lab report for Life Science and starting studying for my Psychology of Developmental Disabilities exam. The lab took me almost 2 hours to type out, but once I finished I felt so relieved. Next time, I’m not going to wait until 12 am to write it! Procrastination is my worst enemy! I’m trying to work on it though, time management is something I deffinetly am trying to work on. I’m a little nervous for my exam on Friday. I usually start studying a week before an exam, but I started on Sunday. I like to be able to write out flash cards and notes, then be able to use them to study all week. I did really well on all of the exams when I studied this way, so I’m deffinetly going to stick with it.

Finding out what study strategies work for you is HUGE part of college academic life. If you’re having any trouble doing so, we have tons of resources for you to utilize. FOR FREE! If you’re finding that you’re studying isn’t as effective as you’d like, or you just need a little bit of help with that one tricky calculus problem you should check out the Centers For Learning!! You can check them out in a few ways!

It’s Maryyyy

Hello everyone! It’s Mary one of those crazy Orientation Leaders/Ambassadors. I’m a senior Psychology major with a specialization in developmental disabilities and a minor in Disability Studies (wow that’s a lot to say!) My hometown is Revere, MA otherwise known as Reveah because we don’t pronounce our “r’s.” I have always lived on campus, but this year I am living in an off campus apartment which I am overly ecstatic because I don’t have to share my bedroom! =) On campus, I am thoroughly involved in the Ballroom Dance Club. I have been the captain for 2 years and I teach the beginner and intermediate classes that are offered at the rec center every semester. We also have a competitive team and we compete at universities and colleges throughout the New England. If you have any questions about the university or the ballroom dance club please send me an email or find us on Facebook! Mary_Angeleri@student.uml.edu
Have a fabulous day!! =)

XO, Mary

Andy and Audrey have arrived!!

Hey Guys!!
My name is Andy and I am a Junior Music Education and Clarinet Performance Major. This past summer I was one of the Operations Coordinators working behind the scenes at Orientation. A little blurb about myself, my hometown is Fall River, MASS (YAY for Southern MASS!!) I currently live on South Campus which is so convenient with all my class being right outside my door! =] I am highly involved in the music program here, playing in many ensembles and am also President-Elect of the Music Ed. Club (MENC). I am also Drum Major of the UMass Lowell Marching Band. On top of all this I am currently taking 25 credits, and am also one of your Orientation Student Ambassadors. So if you have any questions or concerns please dont hesitate to email me at andy_chau@student.uml.edu.

Signing off!
::Andy::

Hey everyone!

It’s going to be a little hard following up Andy’s fabulous paragraph because Andy is such a fabulous person, but I’m going to try my best!

My name is Audrey, I am a senior here at UMass Lowell. I am an English major and a Comparative Arts with a concentration in music history minor. (What a mouthful to say!)

I am currently the Editor-in-Chief of the UMass Lowell Connector (the student newspaper), a member of the National Honors Society, a new member of the Literary Honor Society, a former DJ on WUML Radio and an Orientation Ambassador.

These days, it’s been hard finding time to even sleep; on top of all my activities, I’m taking the usual 15 credits, and applying to grad schools, which is a process perhaps more exhausting than school itself!

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at:

audreymangone@gmail.com

Talk to you soon!

=)

Jess Yu xo

Jess me? or Jess Yu???

Hey guys!
My name is Jess Yu. I was a first year Orientation leader last summer. I am a sophomore living at the ICC in downtown Lowell. My hometown is Plaistow, NH. Yes NH, I’m not from the hicks area though :] I am currently an Exercise Physiology major but due to my desirable hatred for Physics, I might be switching to Nursing. But as for right now I’m going with the flow. When I’m not at school working in the office or going to classes, I am playing the #1 favorite sport of my life which is Rugby. I have been currently playing for 3 1/2 years and I currently play for the school and I absolutely love it. People underestimate me in rugby because of my height and how little I am, but I love proving them wrong on the field :] And yes, the scratches and bruises are totally worth it.
If you guys have any questions, feel free to email any of the ambassadors here on this page. My email address is Jessica_yu@student.uml.edu if you want to know anything else about me or just want to chat in general. I’ll be happy to help with any questions you got :]

Thanks!!
Jess Yu xo

A Message From Daisy

Why hello there freshman and transfers. My name is Adaeze Ogunedo, but my friends call me Daisy. I’m a third year Music Education student. I play the cello and have been for almost 12 years now. It’s probably my favourite instrument. Not just because I play it, but because of how it sounds and what I can do with it.
When I was in highschool, I was really involved in theater, but now that I am in college, music has sort of taken a hold of my life. I still go to as many shows as possible and support the actors, but I can’t really fit it into my busy schedule. This, of course, doesn’t mean that if you like theater you should drop it all together. I’ve taken some courses to make sure that I am still somewhat involved. And every so often, me and my friends burst into songs from musicals. It’s a great way to meet people. Hahah.
Well, this is all I have to say right now. I promise to write some more later. Let you guys know how my week has been going. Talk to you soon!

-Daisyx

Jeff Again

Hey guys! It’s Jeff again just dropping in to update you on what i have been doing and whats going on on campus today. As far as what I have been up too…nothing but catching up on some sleep and enjoying the weekend. I went and saw Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D and I highly suggest you ALL go out and see it. It’s a nice flashback to your chilhood! Aside from the fun stuff, I completed my lab report for my Radiation and Life Lab so I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me but on the other hand, it’s a whoooole new week with more work, studying, and exams so be sure to work hard even when it seems impossible.

FUN STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.K so today there are a few things that you can venture in to. For those of you who are fitness gurus there is a spinning class at the CRC in Studio 2 starting at 6 and will go until 7:20. There is also a Yoga class starting at 6:30 and going until 7:25 so check those out and try something new if you haven’t already done that kind of stuff…ya know? For the non-fitness gurus like myself the movie “UP” is showing at the ICC in downtown Lowell at 8:00 so bring your friends and get something to eat and hang out at the ICC!

Alright I’m done,
Jeff

Here comes Shay!

Hi there! As you can see, my name is Shay. I’m a sophomore here at UMass Lowell, in the BFA program for Graphic Design. I eat, breathe, and sleep art, so if you have any questions about the art program, feel free to ask! I also practically live on South Campus [seeing as I’m a SC major], so if you see a red-head wearing lots of plaid, feel free to say hi. 🙂 Currently, I’m starting my design courses, and I’m also taking a Photography I course which has turned out to be awesome so far.

In my free time, I love going to shows. I have several friends who have their own bands, and they’re AMAZING. My favorite bands of all time include: A Skylit Drive, Circa Survive, Minus the Bear, Attack Attack!, and The Devil Wears Prada, just to name a few. As Chris mentioned, you can find shows just about anywhere. The TUMC in Tewksbury is a popular venue, as is Rocko’s up in Manchester, New Hampshire [about a half hour or so from Lowell].

Keep your eyes peeled for gallery showings on South as well. The Lowell Friends of Photography recently opened an exhibit in the Dugan Gallery [located in the basement of Dugan Hall], so check that out if you get a chance!

Peace out!

…What About Chris?

Hey!

If you couldn’t guess, My name is Chris. I am a junior here at the lovely UMass Lowell. I am also a music business major. Thats pretty much me in a nut shell.

It is really important that everyone takes the time to read the flyers that have been put up. I’ve notice that a lot of people, myself included, never take the time to just look up. It makes sense, we see them taped to every available surface. There is a lot of helpful and fun information that can be found on them.

There are shows all of the time, as well as other fun and exciting events that you may not have even realized happen around you. Just the other day, there was speed dating at the Fox Common. If that isn’t your thing, thats fine but you never know what oppertunities you could miss just because your head was down.

Keep your Eyes Open

What’s Jeff Doin’

Hey Hey Heeeeey!! It Jeff here and I have never blogged before in my life but I think this will be a fun way to stay in contact with all of you. I’ll start with a little blurb about myself. I am a junior here and I currently study in the Music Business program. I came in as a freshman studying Physics: Radiological Health but realized that maybe that wasn’t for me so starting my sophomore year I changed to Music Business. I am now at another crossroads where I’m thinking I might want to go into psychology. And before you rag on me for being in-decisive let me explain my reasoning. I started working for the University my freshman year as a tour guide. Being a tour guide segwayed into me wanting to do Orientation so last summer I decided to take the plunge and become an Orientation Leader. I LOVED it. I love working with students and parents and providing the information that I know is valuable to you guys. I blame my decision to want to go in to psychology on Orientation and I am proud of that! All in all I realized that as long as you do what you love doing then you will be happy and successful in your life and getting through this whole college thing will be much more enjoyable and manageable when you are studying what you truly love.

O.K enough life lessons, let’s get to the fun stuff! If you have’nt seen anything posted about waht’s going on around campus yet then I’m going to tell you right here, right now.

First off make sure to bookmark this website:
http://www.uml.edu/student-services/gottabehere/ It has a calendar and a list of things going on on campus.

Starting today, October 2nd, Movies That Rock will be showing “UP” at the South Campus O’Leary Library in room 222. It will also be playing on Sunday and Monday so be sure to go check it out!

Also, On Monday October 4th there will be an exhibition hockey game at the Tsongas Arena at 4:00PM so go and support your Riverhawks!!

Later Dudes!!
