Intramural sports..Round 3.

You! Yes, you! 3rd Quarter intramural sport signups are here! You can’t tell me broomball doesn’t sound like a crazy amount of fun. I don’t even know what broomball is.. but it’s on the list along with a bunch of other great sports! I know I have this whole spiel about staying active in my blogs, but that’s because I’m a firm believer in getting out and having some fun aside from the books. Ya don’t even have to break a sweat to get your mind off of something if you don’t want to (but if you break a sweat playing pool or a board game or something…then I don’t know what to tell you.). Anywho, signups for all 3rd Quarter sports are still available, but some are closing within the next few days so hurry and apply now! Here is a list of the 3rd Quarter sports:
  • 5v5 Basketball
  • 5v5 Broomball
  • 6v6 Volleyball
  • 8-ball Pool  Tournament
  • Kickball
  • Badminton
  • Racquetball
  • Squash
Go do things with brooms! Hoorah!

New Years resolutions are still a thing, right?

I’m not going to lie, my New Years resolutions always go down the tubes within a week or two. But who’s to say we can’t start over again? It’s the effort that counts right? Right. My point is, once things start to go haywire and your resolution begins to fall apart, TRY AGAIN! Those of you who get it the first time around, props to you because changing something about your daily routine can be a serious hassle, especially when it comes to trying to break old habits. Prepare yourselves for the sappiness that I’m about to throw down…

The beauty of coming back here after break is that chance to try again. From personal experience, I can tell you your mental and physical health are two insanely important aspects of making your time here worthwhile. So why not use the resources you’re given to ensure both of those things are healthy and functioning at their best? I know it’s the last thing some students want to hear, but be as physically active as possible this semester! Not only do you have the Campus Recreation Center on east AND the Riverview Fitness Center on south, you also have the weather on your side! (Okay maybe not at the moment, but it will get better!) As soon as the spring temperatures set in, go for a walk, a run, take out a bike from freewheelers, do something! Your physical activity has a direct correlation to your mental health. I’m not saying run marathons, but make the effort to make some subtle changes along the way. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, if the weather is nice start walking/riding a bike from campus to campus, etc. Even the little things may seem like a hassle, but I promise you it will all pay off!

Regular semester hours for the CRC and Riverview Fitness Center:
Mon.-Thurs.    6:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Friday              6:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday          9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunday            Noon – 10 p.m.

The CRC has many other fitness options if you’re looking for something new to get your blood pumping. From basketball courts to racquetball rooms and group fitness programs, there is sure to be something else to peek your interest. For more information on the entirety of the CRC itself as well as program and facility schedules, click on the link below!
Best of luck this semester ladies and gents!

Winter Welcome Week!

It’s believable that the first thought of coming back for the spring semester is summed up in one simple word, classes. Academics is why we’re all here in the first place, so it’s safe to say education is our top priority. However, we all need some time away from the books, preferably some fun time. As always, the Campus Activities Programming Association has provided you with ways to enjoy your free time while homework is still on the lighter side. Winter Welcome Week continues to have programs for you to enjoy from now until January 31st. Check out the flyer below for more information!

**Final Exam Information is posted on ISIS!**

DON’T be this person…..

Or this one…..

OR THIS ONE……..

Finals are coming right around the corner! This semester has flown by.. And no one (including me) wants to be any of these 3 memes.. So to prevent the stress and headache we should all probably start checking now.. When is our final? Where is it? What is on it? While your professor can tell you what is on the final, ISIS can tell you the rest of the useful information!
If you go to uml.edu and log into ISIS you can click on the “enrollment” tab, below that you will see “my exam schedule” once you click on that BOOM, you have your exam date, time, and where the exam will take place (note that it could be possibly be in a different class room then you have been in all semester).
Hope this helped!! Good luck on finals!!! Woo Hoo! πŸ˜€

“I must say, it’s a bit brisk out ol’ chap.”

HUG ME

What happened to 60 and sunny?! That time of year is slowly creeping up on us again, and for those of you who are unfamiliar with New England weather..GET. READY. It’s a hassle, enough said. However, nobody said you couldn’t look fabulously good while you’re shoveling snow ;D

(Hopefully no one would make a small child shovel snow. Ever.)

OK so the real reason for this post is to tell you to get your butt over to the bookstore! And no! Not for books this time! The bookstores located on North Campus, South Campus, and downtown all have great UMass Lowell winter gear. Sweatshirts, jackets, pajamas, etc. You name it, they have it. Check out their website to get more info or even order online! I don’t know about you but I have yet to start my Christmas shopping. And what better way to rep UML than to have every single one of your family members wearing it? And yes, there’s even a onesie for baby Johnny.

Are you happy?

Here is some food for thought on this cold rainy day.. while you are either in class or curled in a ball napping at home/residence hall πŸ™‚

Advising time! Spring is coming… quicker than you think!

Good afternoon y’all! So guess what? Advising is coming and in order to have a super awesome schedule next semester as well as making sure you are staying on track with you major curriculum you need to do a few significant things!

In order to meet with your advisor to go over your schedule and what to take to be set up for success you need to email him/her. You may be wondering, well who is my advisor? GREAT QUESTION! If you log into ISIS (go to uml.edu and the link is at the top right hand corner) you will see on the right side towards the middle there is a box that says “advisor” and will have a name under it. If you click on the “details” link under your advisors name it will bring you to a page with all of their contact information. YAY! You need to email/contact your advisor to schedule an appointment. If you run into any problems with this part feel free to comment and we shall help you to the best of our abilities πŸ™‚

When meeting with your advisor it is best to go in with some prior knowledge on what you need and what you would like to take. It just makes the process move quicker and also makes you look like you are on top of your game to your advisor (very impressive)! To do this you can go to
http://www.uml.edu/CLASS/Curriculum-checksheets-by-major.aspx. This website is extra handy and outlines every class you need to take for your major!

I hope this helps! If you run into any issues or I am just confusing in how I explain let me know and I will help!
Have a fantabulous Tuesday! It is almost hump day! YAAA!
