iSiS Unavailable from 3pm, Friday July 8th through 7am, Monday July 11th

iSiS will be unavailable beginning at 3pm, on Friday, July 8th through 7am on Monday, July 11th for scheduled system maintenance. This will include an upgrade to Peopletools and Patches/Fixes bundle 21/HCM. This upgrade is not going to offer new functionality, but you will see a slight change to the look and feel of the pages, searches, etc.

Please plan accordingly for this downtime and contact the HELP center at help@uml.edu or ext. 4357 if you have any questions or concerns.

UMass Lowell Bookstore (Updated 8/12/11)

Effective July 2011, UMass Lowell transitioned to a new bookstore vendor, Follett Corporation. By clicking on UML Bookstore within the iSiS Schedule of classes or a students class list,youcan see what book has been ordered for a particular course. This will include book title, author, and ISBN (International Standard Book Number).

Some courses do not call up correctly and the technical team is working to resolve this. As a work-around — Students can currently view their books by visiting the new UML Bookstore web page and searching for their class.

UPDATE 7/28/11:Due to iSiS upgradeand technical issuesin early July, there has been a delay in getting the[UML Booktore] link within iSiS to directly pull up the course book requirements. Developers are actively working on this andwill have a solution in place before the start of fall semester.

Important Information from Registrar regarding Immunization Holds

Below is a message from the Registrar regarding Immunization Holds in iSiS for new students:

Please note that if this is the first semestera student is attending the University, the Immunization Service Indicator that prevents registration will not go into effect until September 16, 2011 which is the day after the add/drop period for the Fall 2011 semester.

Students will be able to register with the Immunization Hold still on their record through 9/15/11.

New Email Password Management Self-Service

The Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce the availability of a new Self-Service Password Management tool called “myPassword” to securely manage your email account password. After creating a myPassword profile, you can instantly reset or change your password in compliance with UML Password Requirements.

In addition to email/webmail, employees & students can already use their email address and password to access the Emergency Notification System, library resources, the wireless network, Echo360 lecture capture, and other business applications like HR Direct, e*mpac Finance System, and Summit reporting.

Plans are underway to soon use these same email credentials to access iSiS and the Online Housing Gateway. However, all iSiS passwords are currently still managed through the “Forgot YourPassword?” or “Change Your Password” links off the iSiS login screens (see image below).

Important Information Regarding Student Billing

Important Information Regarding Student Billing:

Effective December 2010, paper bills will no longer be sent to students’ permanent home addresses.

Students now have access to view their bills online at http://isis.uml.edu.

Students will receive an email notification to their U-Mass Lowell student email account (e.g. John_Doe@student.uml.edu) when a new bill has been generated. This notification will provide the balance due as well as the due date. Students will be directed to log into http://isis.uml.edu to access the actual bill which will be in a .pdf format.

Students will be able to view/print/pay their bill online at http://isis.uml.edu

Students will be able to forward their bill electronically to parent(s)/legal guardians etc. by saving the invoice file to their computer and forwarding as an attachment in an email message.

Fall 2010 Announcements from the Registrars Office

The deadline for registration changes – Wednesday, September 15, 2010

This includes the following:

‘ last day to add into courses

‘ last day to drop courses and not pay tuition and fees

‘ last day for undergraduate students to change course status to pass/no credit

Please note that undergraduate students must use permission numbers to add courses after September 8, 2010. Graduate students may add courses through September 15, 2010.

The waitlist function ends 9/8/10. All undergraduate level courses need permission numbers to enroll into courses. The following describes what a permission number can and cannot do.

What a Permission Number will do:

‘ A permission number will allow a student to register for a course that is filled.

‘ A permission number will allow a student to register for a course if the student does not have the pre-requisite course listed on their ISIS transcript.

‘ A permission number will allow an undergraduate student to register for a graduate course.

What a Permission Number will not do:

‘ A permission number will not allow a student to register for a course if the student has a service indicator (hold) flag. The Ethnicity Survey and Probationary service indicators will not prevent students from registering.

‘ A permission number will not allow a student to register for a course beyond the academic calendar dates. For this semester that date is September 15, 2010*.

‘ A permission number will not allow a student to register for a course if the student is not enrolled in the co-requisite course.

‘ A permission number will not allow someone to register if they are not an active student at UMassLowell.

New iSiS Service Indicator for Race / Ethnicity Survey

The federal race/ethnicity reporting guidelines are changing effective Fall 2010. A service indicator has been placed on all active students that will direct them to a survey regarding their racial and ethnic background. Please take a moment to complete the survey. Once you click the ‘Submit’ button at the end of the survey the service indicator will no longer be on your account. Please note that thisservice indicator / hold has no impact on your ability toadd/drop/swap classesorany otherUniversity transactions. Thank you.

New Federal Law Regarding Textbook Information

A new Federal Law requires institutions of higher education who receive federal funding to make accurate required and recommended textbook information, including ISBN and retail price, available on its internet course schedule used for pre-registration and registration processes.

iSiS was updated to comply with this new regulation.

On Saturday, June 26th from 8am until 4pm a number of campus business applications will be unavailable due to planned network changes occurring at the Shrewsbury Data Center. The following student systems will not be accessible during this timeframe:
