India wedding!!

On 30th December 2015, which was the first day of class, we got invited to Indian traditional wedding. That was a big surprised for us as there’s nothing like that mentioned in the syllabus. So after the first section finished at 12 pm, we all went on a school bus. The place called “Gujarat Bhavan”. India wedding is very different from Thai or Christian wedding. It was really clouded and most of the people seems to wear traditional dresses. One of my friend told me that usually they have more people than this. All the eyes were staring at us as we walked in. We walked in the middle of the hall way and went on the stage to wish the couple a good luck. We grab some flowers and through it at them then we took photos with the couple. Once we came down from stage we went straight to the canteen to get some lunch. The food was surprisingly good. I tried every food they have. That was the first time for me and many of us to eat food by hand. Eating rice and curry with bare hand was really hard but I managed to get through it.

After lunch we headed back to school. That was a really good experience. I like going to a wedding,       specially from other culture. After a few days from the wedding I actually went to the library with my friend, Shriya, and we found a book which included pictures of many different kinds of Indian wedding dress. All of them look adorable and it’s amazing how different city have different dresses for their wedding.

Orphanage

20160101_203623 20160101_203625 20160101_203627 IMG_20160101_203849 IMG_20160101_203856 IMG_20160101_204029 IMG_20160101_204043

I have been through many surprises while i’m in India, but one of my favorite was going to an orphanage. On January 1, 20016 which was the first day of new year, we have decided to go to a lake to see the sunset; but here comes the surprise, I went on a richa with Brian and Dan along with Antonio, Christina, and Joe. First I didn’t know that we’re going to an orphanage because other students are going to the lake. So we went to a supermarket and they start grabbing a lot of stuff like tooth brush, tooth paste, books, pencils, and some food. I started to ask them why do need all these stuff. So they answered me “What do you think?”, i has no idea so I asked them “Aren’t we going to the lake?” and they was like “OH my god Krin, you think we’re still going to the lake?”. They explained every to me and that’s then I was so surprised and happy at the same time that we’re going this. I have been to Thai orphanage before so I want to see what it like to go to India orphanage.

The orphanage that we went is also a school which once they’re graduated they will get a certificates, and they can use that certificated to apply in to a university. When we first got there, they make us sit and explain to the children about why we’re here and where we’re came from. Then I have a change to play with them and talk to them. They are so happy that we’re playing with them. What surprised me even more was their talent. After we talked for a while, they start showing us some dance. It was really good and it’s something that I can’t do like back flip and b-boy. This is something that if I just one to india for travel with the tour, I wouldn’t have any kind go experience like this. Best thing about this trip is you get to go to a place that only local people knows. go to a restaurant that local people went, and building friendship with many people.

Final presentation

On July 11, 2016, we’re presenting our final product of our project. The first presentation starts at 9:00 am and we all have maximum of 25 minutes and five minutes for Q&A. On the night before our presentation, I was preparing the PowerPoint late at night to make sure that our PowerPoint have the well design but also not to fancy. I was really happy about the output but what I learn from this course is that things will not always work as you expected. First of all, I’m using MacBook; so on Mac it has their own build-in fonts which different from Windows. So on that presentation day, I tested my PowerPoint on my computer and everything works perfectly. I thought I’m going to have the best presentation. I copy my PowerPoint into the computer that we used for the presentation without realize or look back to check the PowerPoint. Then the moment that it’s our turn, the moment that I open the PowerPoint was the moment that I realize about the fonts difference. I have never make such a big mistake like this in a team project, Whenever I have a team project I always double check more than I usually does. Because it’s a team project so I don’t want to bring anyone down. Especially my team for this program, I have the best teammates with the best teamwork. The PowerPoint was a messed, text are all over the place and even the text colors were changed. I feel bad not just because I work hard and things didn’t go well, but I felt bad that my team worked so hard and we can’t even use the PowerPoint to remind ourselves on what we’re going to talk. My mind was blanked while presented. But luckily I have a very great team that could keep me claim and we’re able to recovered from the struggle and got back on track.

Finally fall semester is over! Let the new adventure begin!

So tomorrow is the day that we’ll fly from Boston to Dubai then Dubai to Bengaluru. The plane depart at 22:20 on Sunday and the flight duration is 12hrs 15mins so we’re expected to arrive at Dubai at 19:35 on Monday. Then we’ll take another 3hrs 35mins from Dubai to Bengaluru. This is going to be my first time in Dubai, but because I’m from Thailand and we’re not so far away from each other so I expected some of the culture might be the same. Plus I got quite a few Indian friends and we got along quite well.

I took an advice from previous students that went into this program to buy a may be small gift or snacks. So I decided to buy a snack box.

As a computer science major, I always want to learn about entrepreneur so hopefully one day I can use skills that I got out of this program; adapt it to use in the real world.

My documents are ready 🙂
