Marlborough, MA — Hologic, Inc. is the newest sponsor of the Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2). M2D2 is a University of Massachusetts Lowell and Medical School-affiliated incubator for early stage startups that runs the annual $200K Challenge international competition to showcase innovative medical device, diagnostic, and biotech companies.
As part of its partnership, Hologic’s GYN Surgical Solutions (GSS) division will participate in the $200K Challenge, including the call for applications, screening applicants, and judging the final competition showcase. Hologic will offer educational sessions and host office hours to provide mentoring and share insights with M2D2 resident start-up companies. Hologic’s GSS division offers a suite of minimally invasive treatment options for women facing gynecologic conditions that affect their comfort, health, and well-being.
“We are delighted to partner with M2D2 as they look to discover the very best in medical device innovation,” said Sean Daugherty, President of GYN Surgical Solutions, Hologic. “We look forward to helping guide and nurture these new technologies.”
“We are thrilled that Hologic will be joining the M2D2 community,” said Stephen McCarthy, founder and co-director of M2D2. “We know their participation will attract even more applicants to our large, international competition. In addition, M2D2’s resident early-stage startups who are working so hard to move their inventions toward commercialization will gain a great deal by interacting with Hologic experts and business professionals.”
