{"id":856,"date":"2025-10-27T12:18:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T17:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/wellbeing\/?p=856"},"modified":"2025-10-27T12:18:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T17:18:54","slug":"a-month-in-my-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/wellbeing\/2025\/10\/27\/a-month-in-my-life\/","title":{"rendered":"A Month in My Life"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2><strong>By: Ashley Laleau, College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Well-Being Leader<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As October comes to a close, I\u2019ve been reflecting on how much the past month has been about finding balance \u2013 between academics, personal goals, and time for the people and activities that make life meaningful. Classes have been in full swing, and I\u2019ve felt myself settling into a good rhythm. Between lectures, assignments, and study session, I\u2019ve been learning how to manage my time more effectively. One of the highlights of my academic life this month has been working on a manuscript with my research service learning (RSL) professor, Dr. Sarah Merrill. It\u2019s been a rewarding challenge in seeing how all the pieces slowly come together in written form. This month, I\u2019ve continued with the 75 Hard Challenge, and while it hasn\u2019t been easy, it\u2019s definitely been worth it. Sticking to the workouts and yoga, reading daily, and maintaining consistency has strengthened not just my body, but my mindset. I\u2019ve learned how much discipline plays a role in creating momentum \u2013 especially when life gets busy. Every day I complete another task, I feel a little more confident in my ability to stay committed to my goals. I\u2019ve also made sure to prioritize my well-being, which has been just as important as my academic and fitness goals. Spending time with friends and my best friend has been the perfect way to unwind and recharge. We\u2019ve tried new restaurants (definitely one of my favorite ways to explore), gone roller skating, and even had a cozy fondue night. These little moments have reminded me how important it is to slow down and enjoy the present \u2013 to laugh, share stories, and make memories outside of my usual routines.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>October has been a month of balance and growth \u2013 proving that I can challenge myself while still finding joy in the process. As I head into November, I want to carry the same mindset (despite burnout peak!). And always remember, you don\u2019t have to carry the weight of this semester alone!
