They played an\u00a0Arturo M\u00e1rquez composition that was so beautiful the crowd was shushing passersby. It&#8217;s the beginning of Festas de Lisboa, lucky me, to be in a country where they spend enough money on art to throw a dozen free concerts to mark the beginning of summer vacation and sardine season. We explored the Time Out market for dinner and ate a pig favored\u00a0by god and drank\u00a0some Kopke tawny port. My favorite art gallery: Vihls&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.under-dogs.net\">Under Dogs<\/a> is missing from there. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/addfuel\/\">Add Fuel <\/a>has some new tiles! He does some of the best street art updates of\u00a0<em>azulejos <\/em>going in Lisbon. Go\u00a0Diogo Go!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/italy-summer-2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2017\/06\/Screen-Shot-2017-06-04-at-6.27.05-AM-300x285.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"285\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went by the pink street of night\u00a0clubs are and found the Pens\u00e3o Amor, loaded with sexy\u00a0murals and decor to make a girl feel fabulous. Here&#8217;s a\u00a0painting of a seaman with his thoughts:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-19\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/italy-summer-2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2017\/06\/IMG_8462-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Claudia Figueiredo\u00a0and Lu\u00eds Gra\u00e7a for taking care of us in Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p>The Maritime Museum offered this map gem: a 1502 account of the Arabian Sea, or all that was known to Portuguese\u00a0explorers that year. The Red Sea is, um, red,\u00a0the Persian Gulf is blue, and Longitude has not been discovered yet, only Latitude. I think this must have been like going to Mars for\u00a0Afonso de Albuquerque.
