Usually, my blogs are pretty <i style=\"color: yellow\">light and fluffy<\/i>.<\/span><span> This blog will be a bit heavier, so <u>read carefully<\/u> and please respond with an e-mail at Ashley_Tello@student.uml.edu if you have anything <i>you&#8217;d like to ask or say<\/i>!<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span>The Off Broadway Players, our amazing theater group on campus, is putting on &#8220;The Laramie Project.&#8221; <\/span><span>&#8220;The Laramie Project&#8221; is the story of gay University of Wyoming student  Matthew Shepard who was brutally beaten on October 6, 1998 in Laramie,  Wyoming and died six days later as a result of his injuries. The  Tectonic Theater Project visited the town of Laramie one month later and  returned several times over the next year to conduct interviews with  the people of Laramie and those related to the story.<\/p>\n<p>The Off-Broadway Players perf<span><\/span><span>orm in the Comley-Lane Theater, located in Mahoney Hall, on UMass Lowell&#8217;s South Campus (870 Broadway Street, Lowell, MA).<\/p>\n<p>SHOWS:<br \/>Thursday, October 21 @ 7:30PM &#8211; OPENING NIGHT!<br \/>Friday, October 22 @ 7:30PM<br \/>Saturday, October 23 @ 7:30PM<br \/>Sunday, October 24 @ 2:00PM<br \/>Tuesday, October 26 @ 7:30PM<br \/>Wednesday, October 27 @ 7:30PM<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $5 for students\/faculty\/staff, $10 for adults.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>I know, you&#8217;re all thinking&#8230;what? This isn&#8217;t too much to talk about, Ash. Well, actually, there&#8217;s more.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>If any of you are familiar with the <strike style=\"color: red\">Westboro Baptist Church<\/strike>, WBC, then you may know where this blog is leading.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>The WBC is a group of people who picket certain events with <i>hateful picketing and protest. <\/i>They are scheduled to come to UMass Lowell on October 24, 1:15 &#8211; 2pm outside of Mahoney Hall to protest OBP, Pride Alliance, and Gender Studies performance of &#8220;The Laramie Project.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span><span>&nbsp;<u style=\"color: red\"><b>PLEASE:::: DO NOT plan any sort of counter protest!!<\/b><\/u> A student on campus has come up with a very <b><i style=\"color: purple\">PEACEFUL<\/i> <\/b>way to voice their opinions of the protest.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span><span>They encourage a silent, peaceful protest were anyone who is interested should <b style=\"color: purple\">wear purple&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/span><b style=\"color: purple\"><span> <span>to support both Matthew and our Off Broadway Players.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span><span>For anymore information regarding this issue please refer to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/event.php?eid=163679600313242&amp;ref=ts#%21\/event.php?eid=148565055185536&amp;ref=ts\">Facebook event<\/a> &#8220;Wear Purple for The Laramie Project.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span>So, if you&#8217;d like your &#8220;voice to be heard&#8221; simply PEACEFULLY &amp; SILENTLY attend<span style=\"font-size: large\"><b><span style=\"color: purple\"> &#8216;Wear Purple for The Laramie Project.&#8217;<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span>If you cannot be there physically, <b><span style=\"color: purple\">wear purple<\/span><\/b> wherever you are and send kind words and thoughts to the production of this show.<\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span>Remember, if you have any questions, comments, or something to add, feel free to email me!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"color: lime\"><b><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: lime\"><b><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: lime\"><b><span><span>Send love,<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<p><span><span><b style=\"color: lime\"><i><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span>&#8211;Ashley<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello world, Ashley in da house.
