They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/2019\/03\/19\/meet-a-2019-m2d2-challenge-finalist-buzzark-simulations\/\">BuzzArk Simulations<\/a>, creators of a virtual reality simulator for natural orifice surgery training<\/li><li>IMOV Motiontech, who are developing a minimally invasive electrophysiology device for diagnosis and treatment.<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/2019\/03\/18\/meet-a-2019-200k-challenge-finalist-medisim-vr\/\">MediSim VR<\/a>, developers of a haptic enabled VR surgery simulator.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Winding up for the big pitch<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/1-406-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"The MediSim team makes their pitch at the 2019 M2D2 $200K Challenge.\" class=\"wp-image-1044\" width=\"224\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/1-406-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/1-406-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/1-406-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/1-406-452x300.jpg 452w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The three startups and their HTIC mentors arrived in Lowell the weekend before the March 27 pitch-off. Job #1: Fine-tuning and practicing their pitches with help from M2D2 staff and subject matter experts from M2D2&#8217;s corporate sponsors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ragul Puhazhzendi of BuzzArk spoke to the importance all three teams placed on perfecting their pitches: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/2019\/03\/29\/in-case-you-missed-it-photos-from-the-2019-m2d2-200k-challenge-pitch-off\/\">The Pitch-Off<\/a> was a very big platform for us, and quite a big stage for our startup to get a chance to interact with the best of the best in the medtech environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MediSim VR&#8217;s Sabarish RC said, \u201cThis was a great learning experience. That kind of networking is very much a part of the $200K Challenge Finalist experience, and the Team India startups certainly got their fair share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The M2D2 team, led by Director of Operations Mary Ann Picard, built Team India\u2019s itinerary around networking opportunities in financial, industry, and academic spheres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/2019-m2d2-200k-challenge-award-celebration-networking-event-tickets-59525949718\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/awards-new-get-tickets-1.png\" alt=\"Save $5 on online tickets to the 2019 M2D2 $200K Challenge Award Celebration -- April 10 at Mintz in Boston.\" class=\"wp-image-1071\" width=\"335\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/awards-new-get-tickets-1.png 500w, https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/m2d2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2019\/03\/awards-new-get-tickets-1-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And like any good networking effort, the results were exponentially positive. Geethanjali R of IMOV Motiontech shared their experience: \u201cMary Ann connected us with investors, other technologists, and most of the companies that work in-line with ours. The feedback from the investors and VCs we met was very useful, and they have also looped us in with other investors in our field. Other finalists and visitors at the Pitch-Off were also very helpful in referring us to experts and investors in our field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ragul emphasized the importance of the Challenge\u2019s networking opportunities for Indian start-ups with a big, important idea: \u201cWe believe the connections we\u2019re making are truly game-changing for us, could help us scale up, and could be the differentiators for us with our competitors and peers in both countries. Mary Ann gave Team India that and more with a day exploring the Hub. South Station\u2019s food trucks, a harbor cruise, and just exploring in the city all received winning reviews from our visitors. (They even thought \u201cthe T\u201d is pretty cool!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether or not they win, all three of the Team India startups are feeling confident about their future prospects after participating in the $200K Challenge. Sabarish describes the big takeaway for the MediSim VR team: \u201cWe now understand what we need to do to establish a presence in the Boston startup ecosystem.
