We have received numerous calls, indicating that multiple users cannot access university applications that utilize your student credentials. Examples include:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">&#8216;<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Emergency Notification System<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">&#8216;<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Wireless Access<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">&#8216;<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Library Access<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">&#8216;<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Access to 360\/Apreso for lecture downloads<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><strong>HR DIRECT IS INCLUDED AND IS IMPACTED BY THIS ISSUE<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Reason:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Per policy, your UMass Lowell password will expire 180 days after you reset it. Since we migrated all student accounts to the new, larger Outlook Live mail platform beginning the last week of May 2010, some of you may have expired passwords already or will expire shortly.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font color=\"#000000\">Note: Although you may be able to login to Outlook Live to access your email account, you will not be able to access the above applications if your password has expired. The reason for this is that your mailbox is hosted at a Microsoft datacenter and they do not expire passwords &#8216; by design, since we synchronize your password with the university&#8217;s environment<\/font>. <font color=\"#000000\">While your &#8216;on-campus&#8217; password has expired, Microsoft hasn&#8217;t notified you.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><b><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font color=\"#000000\">Action:<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">If you are experiencing login issues to the above applications, you will need to reset your password in one of the two following methods:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">1.<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Browse to password.uml.edu<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">o<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Enter your full email address<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">o<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Enter your current password<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">o<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Enter your new password<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Calibri\">Once your password has been accepted, it will take five minutes to synchronize with the Windows Live environment. We appreciate your patience.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Login to Outlook Live via <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/outlook.com\"><font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">http:\/\/outlook.com<\/font><\/a><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"> to verify your new password.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">2.<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Call the University Help Desk at 978-934-4357<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">o<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Be prepared to provide information to verify your identity<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><font size=\"3\">o<\/font> <font size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Once you obtain a new password, visit<\/font><\/font><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Calibri\"> <font color=\"#000000\">password.uml.edu to reset it.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\">Future plans:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\" face=\"Calibri\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font color=\"#000000\">We understand this is an inconvenience to you, and we&#8217;re already working to prevent this confusion in the future. In a few weeks<\/font>,<font color=\"#000000\"> we will start sending out notices via email that your password will be expiring, starting two weeks from the date that your password will expire.
