{"id":104,"date":"2013-06-29T15:51:43","date_gmt":"2013-06-29T20:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/hongkong2013\/?p=104"},"modified":"2024-01-10T10:22:04","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T15:22:04","slug":"lantau-island-the-the-giant-buddha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/hongkong2013\/2013\/06\/29\/lantau-island-the-the-giant-buddha\/","title":{"rendered":"Lantau Island and The Great Buddha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most popular religious sites to visit is the giant Buddha on Lantau Island.\u00a0 We take a glass bottomed cable car up to the monastery and spend the day climbing the steps to see the giant\u00a0Buddha.\u00a0 <b>Tian Tan Buddha<\/b>, also known as the <b>Big Buddha<\/b>, is a large bronze statue of a Buddha Amoghasiddhi, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong, China. It is the largest outdoor bronze statute of Buddha in the world!\u00a0 The statue is located near Po Lin Monastery and symbolizes the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and religion.
