We are full swing into the spring semester and I am happy to report we have LOTS\u00a0going on! I swear I can hear the office humming some days.<\/p>\n
Beginning Monday, we celebrate\u00a0annual Engineering Week. Six student teams will vie for the coveted Dean’s Cup through five days of challenges and contests. Tuesday, we welcome alumna Robin Antonucci ’79 back to campus as our Dean’s\u00a0Leadership Colloquium speaker \u00a0and we will induct over 100 seniors\u00a0into the Order of the Engineer.<\/p>\n
Finally, on Saturday the 27th, we welcome our Engineering Alumni (all of you!) back to the Tsongas to watch the River Hawks take on the BC Eagles (takes a breath). Click Here to purchase<\/a>.<\/p>\n If that’s not enough, TONIGHT\u00a0<\/strong>we are kicking off a new Faculty Tech Venture Program and Competition!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The\u00a0program will feature six\u00a0interactive sessions covering\u00a0various topics that are core to commercializing\u00a0university technologies using start-up mechanisms. Topics include\u00a0customer\u00a0discovery, market research and validation techniques, concept feasibility\u00a0testing, technology roadmapping\u00a0and pricing and revenue model development.\u00a0Sessions\u00a0are hands-on and interactive, and will be facilitated by the New Venture\u00a0Development staff and Manning\u00a0School of Business faculty.<\/p>\n The\u00a0goal of the program and competition is to help interested faculty (and their\u00a0research teams) move an idea,\u00a0invention, or start-up company forward.\u00a0The winner will be awarded a two-course\u00a0release in the fall along with\u00a0additional resources to pursue their project.<\/p>\n The competition will\u00a0culminate with a Tech Venture Pitch on May 5th<\/strong>.
