{"id":30,"date":"2015-11-20T14:42:11","date_gmt":"2015-11-20T19:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/engineering\/?p=30"},"modified":"2015-11-24T10:56:16","modified_gmt":"2015-11-24T15:56:16","slug":"francis500","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/engineering\/2015\/11\/20\/francis500\/","title":{"rendered":"Giving Tuesday and the #francis500"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I must say, I am pretty\u00a0excited to\u00a0announce our plans for #GivingTuesday 2015! \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<em>US News and World Report\u00a0<\/em>defines alumni engagement as a core metric in its university ranking system.\u00a0To that end, we are determined to recruit<span style=\"color: #3366ff\">\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000\">500\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>NEW<\/strong>\u00a0alumni donors\u00a0IN THE MONTH OF DECEMBER.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">GIFTS OF ANY VALUE,\u00a0IN SUPPORT OF ANY FUND<\/span>\u00a0in the Francis College of Engineering\u00a0count towards our goal. I am confident\u00a0we can make this happen &#8211;\u00a0but we need help from you, our alumni.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Here is how you can help:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>1 \u2013 You can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uml.edu\/francis500\">donate<\/a>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>Every single alumni donation to the College affects our ranking<\/em>, no matter the amount. If you have not donated to the College in FY15, please consider lending your financial support to one of our funds. Donate at:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uml.edu\/francis500\">www.uml.edu\/francis500<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and be sure to select a fund tied to the\u00a0<em><strong>College of Engineering.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>2 \u2013 Be a Social Media Campaign Ambassador<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those of you on social media, make sure you like\/follow us before December 1st to stay up to date on the campaign, and to follow the daily hijinks of #UMLJimmyB. Download a JPEG of James B. Francis, print him out and pose with him. Show your #UMLJimmyB pride &#8211; in your office, in your lab, classrooms, boardrooms, on the street \u2013 make it fun!<\/p>\n<p>Take photos and caption with why you support the College of Engineering and share them on social media with our hashtags:\u00a0<strong>#francis500<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>#umljimmyb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can use it as a shout out to fellow alumni, challenging them to give, as a thank you to a professor who helped you along the way, or maybe as a &#8220;where&#8217;s jimmy&#8221; situation &#8211; make it whatever you want &#8211; just make it fun!!<\/p>\n<p>I almost forgot!
