You can make your way from one edge of Old C\u00e1diz to another in 45 minutes, or circle the entire city perimeter in two and a half hours!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After living here for three weeks, I\u2019ve compiled a list of the closest to farthest strolls from our dorms in hopes to guide future students on how to best explore this beautiful Andalusian province!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>1. Parque Genov\u00e9s: Just Outside Your Front Door<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"872\" height=\"652\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.36.04\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-74\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For those staying in Colegio Mayor, Parque Genov\u00e9s will be the shortest stroll you\u2019ll take in the city, totalling an entire 20 seconds to cross the street! The park provides an escape from the surrounding city life, housing 150 imported plant species and a cascading, man made waterfall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>2. Mercado Central: The Perfect Mid-walk Snack Stop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"796\" height=\"598\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.38.41\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-75\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Just five minutes into the city, you\u2019ll find yourself at a bustling market filled with fresh produce, meat, and seafood sold from local vendors, along with food stalls offering traditional Spanish meriendas and tapas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>3. La Caleta &amp; El Castillo de San Sebasti\u00e1n: A Picturesque Coastal Walk<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.41.07\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-76\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A six minute walk past Parque Genov\u00e9s leads to La Caleta, one of the smaller yet always lively beaches in C\u00e1diz. Walking down the beach, you\u2019ll stumble upon a cobblestone pathway leading you to the historic monument, El Castillo de San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>4. Torre Tavira: Your Vantage Point of the City.&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"740\" height=\"556\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.51.24\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-77\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Turning back around into the city, you\u2019ll reach Torre Tavira in seven minutes, one of Spain\u2019s oldest <em>camera obscuras<\/em> that utilizes a mirror and lenses to project images of the city. Initially used for trade and military purposes, it\u2019s one of the most interesting tourist spots in C\u00e1diz.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>5. Catedral de C\u00e1diz: The Historic Heart of the City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"732\" height=\"548\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.52.00\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-78\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A fifteen minute walk brings you to the steps of La Catedral, a grand vision with some of the most intricate architecture just waiting inside. You will thank yourself after buying a ticket to take in the views this building has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>6. Momart Club: On the City\u2019s Edge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"824\" height=\"616\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.53.02\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-79\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are looking to get a glimpse into the nightlife of Spain, look no further than the port! Twenty minutes along the coast, C\u00e1diz\u2019s clubs are settled on the water and make perfect pitstops for some nighttime activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>7. The Transit Finale: From the Seaside to Shopping Centrals&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While walking into New Town C\u00e1diz only takes you from forty minutes to an hour, the city provides inexpensive public transport that will easily take you from Colegio Mayor in under twenty minutes. Here are some of my \u201cbus hop\u201d options for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>\u2192 <em>El Corte Ingl\u00e9s<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"892\" height=\"592\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.54.44\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hop on a bus and make your way to C\u00e1diz\u2019s very own three story department shopping mall filled with regionally produced clothing items, food, books, and much more. A great place to stop and grab some souvenirs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>\u2192 <em>Mercadillo del Paseo Mar\u00edtimo<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"816\" height=\"654\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/cadiz-spain-summer-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-28-at-2.53.12\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>An open air market that highlights local, handmade accessories and jewelry, offering a real glimpse into the city&#8217;s fashion just 20 minutes away from El Corte Ingl\u00e9s by the beach.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>I can not recommend visiting C\u00e1diz enough for any students who are hoping to study abroad during their university experience.
