Another exciting week has passed. \u00a0We continue to explore different exciting parts of the city. \u00a0We climbed the Torre Tavira that was officially chosen\u00a0as a watchtower in 1778. \u00a0It was designed as a work place and home. \u00a0The business was conducted on the first level with the family on the second and house servants on the third or fourth floor respectively. \u00a0It provided\u00a0an amazing view of the city from the top and via the panoramic mirror projected on a concave dome.<\/p>\n

We visited the Oratory of the Santa Cueva which displayed different types of architecture from the prayer chamber to the church. \u00a0The prayer chamber was beautiful in its simplicity and oh what an echo!<\/p>\n

The took the ferry\u00a0to el Puerto de Santa Maria to explore and learn about the city. \u00a0We had a tour of the Bodegas Caballero and a great wine \/ sherry tasting at the end. \u00a0Only a short walk to\u00a0tour a the Castillo de San Marcos. \u00a0Our guide shared the interesting and painful history on how prisoners lived and worked at the castle.<\/p>\n

The Regatta de Cadiz 2016, the tall ship races, came to Cadiz for\u00a04 days. \u00a0 Beautiful these vessels are masterpieces The event happens every 4 years so it was great timing to be here and enjoy. \u00a0Great night of festivities with music, fireworks and oh so many people!<\/p>\n

Originally 3 weeks seemed like a long time to explore Cadiz. \u00a0Now as we count down the final few days I find myself wishing for one more week!<\/p>\n
