Read about their adventures right here.<\/p>\n<p>This is not Kate&#8217;s first trip to the great white desert. In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uml.edu\/News\/stories\/2014\/Swanger-Antarctica-study.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">2013-2014 she led an\u00a0expedition to Antarctica<\/a> to investigate how the continent\u2019s glaciers have responded to climate fluctuations in the past.<\/p>\n<p>They leave October 12, 2015 for a return trip along with researchers from Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Geological Survey.<\/p>\n<p>The project is funded with a 3-year $330,000 grant from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/\">National Science Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uml.edu\/News\/stories\/2015\/Swanger-NSF-Antarctica-2015.aspx\"><em>Learn more in this news story from UMass Lowell<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Antarctic Dry Valleys 2015 blog as UMass Lowell EEAS Asst.
