Spring isn\u2019t on hold just because we\u2019re all practicing social distancing. The daffodils are in bloom and trees are starting to bud. I\u2019m sure if you look outside your window, you\u2019ll see signs of spring and pops of color.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, take some time to go outdoors. Walk a trail, sit on your stoop, smell some flowers\u2014just spend time outside. It\u2019s a literal breath of fresh air and can do wonders for your mental well-being.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if you\u2019re local, you\u2019re in luck. Not only has the Campus Recreation Center gone virtual<\/a>, they\u2019ve also updated their list of local outdoor recreation places to visit<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local outdoor recreation spots<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this list, you\u2019ll find information about local nature trails, bike paths, river walks and rock climbing spots<\/a> you can visit. Most of it is within walking distance of the UMass Lowell campus. There are also places you can visit that are within 10 miles of campus as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Check that the parks are open before you go\u2014 some places may have limited facilities operational. For example, a quick peak at the Nashua River Rail Trail\u2019s website tells you that they\u2019ve closed their restrooms, visitor center, playgrounds, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
