Obviously. But it\u2019s as equally important to figure out how you\u2019ll spend your time outside of class. Learning about the activities, clubs and social scene of a school is a great way to imagine how you\u2019ll fit into a school\u2019s culture and how you\u2019ll spend your time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 275+ active clubs at UML, it\u2019s a lot to unpack. We&#8217;ll walk you through it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"940\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/admissions\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/142\/2019\/11\/275-clubs-and-counting-gif.gif\" alt=\"275 clubs and counting: Here's where you can find them\" class=\"wp-image-728\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the next few blog posts, we\u2019ll explain which offices on campus offer clubs and make them available to students, frequently asked questions and the digital platform we have that will help you connect with clubs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/admissions\/dont-write-a-college-essay\/\">Check this out: Don&#8217;t write a college essay&#8230;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>The places to be if you\u2019re looking for clubs or activities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on what you\u2019re looking for in a\nclub or activity, there are a few places on campus you should know about that\noffer specific types of clubs. They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The Office of Student Activities &amp; Leadership<\/li><li>The Office of Multicultural Affairs<\/li><li>The academic colleges<\/li><li>The Campus Recreation Center<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Real quick, while we&#8217;re on the topic of academic colleges:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"940\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uml.edu\/admissions\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/142\/2019\/11\/more-info-uml-colleges.gif\" alt=\"UMass Lowell's colleges. Each major at UMass Lowell has a home-base, or academic college.\" class=\"wp-image-727\" \/><figcaption>There are six colleges (plus the Honors College). They are: The Manning  School of Business, the College of Education, the Francis College of  Engineering, the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences,  the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences and the Kennedy College of  Sciences.<br><br><strong>Now you know.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><em>Back to clubs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing you should know is that we\u2019re big on collaboration here at UML. And not just in the classroom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nothing shows this better than the collaboration between the <strong>Office of Student Activities &amp; Leadership, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the colleges<\/strong>. These places offer specific clubs based on their office\u2019s initiatives, but they all work together to make them available to students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> Campus Recreation Center <\/strong>also works hard to make club sports, intramural sports and other rec activities available to students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-giphy\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/3iLasPhfaIdQk\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media3.giphy.com\/media\/3iLasPhfaIdQk\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"Today Spring GIF - Find &amp; Share on GIPHY\" width=\"620\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption><em>Step Brothers\/Columbia Pictures<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>The Office of Student Activities and Leadership<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on the second floor of University\nCrossing, this office is where a lot of clubs are born. They\u2019re responsible for\na lot of the fun activities and events you hear about on campus. Stop by their\noffice and you\u2019ll find <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uml.edu\/student-services\/Student-Activities\/\">information about clubs, activities and organizations like<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Super Smash Bros. at UML<\/li><li>Hawkapella and the Hawkettes (student a cappella groups)<\/li><li>Student Government Association<\/li><li>Leaders in Action<\/li><li>Greek Life (fraternities and sororities)<\/li><li>And more<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Office of Multicultural Affairs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find this office at University\nCrossing too. The Office of Multicultural Affairs works to build an inclusive\nand culturally engaged campus community. They provide services and programs\nthat are open to all students, faculty and staff and support their personal,\ncultural, intellectual and social development. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uml.edu\/student-services\/Multicultural\/Clubs-Organizations\/\">Here, you\u2019ll find clubs like<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Association of Latino Professionals for America<\/li><li>Black Student Union<\/li><li>Disable the Label<\/li><li>Korean Student Association <\/li><li>Pride Alliance<\/li><li>South Asian Student Association<\/li><li>And more<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Academic Colleges Clubs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also find academic,\nmajor-specific clubs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uml.edu\/Academics\/colleges.aspx\">You can\nfind these clubs and honor societies<\/a> by\nchecking in with your college at UMass Lowell.&nbsp;\nSome examples are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Biology Club<\/li><li>Eta Omega Honor Society (for nursing students)<\/li><li>Salesforce Leaders Group<\/li><li>UML Finance Society<\/li><li>UMass Lowell Men in Nursing <\/li><li>And more<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Campus Recreation <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find the Campus Recreation Center\n(a.k.a. CRC or Campus Rec) on East Campus. This isn\u2019t just the place for all\nyour fitness needs, it\u2019s also home to many of UML\u2019s student club sports\nactivities. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uml.edu\/CampusRecreation\/Club-Sports\/Active-Clubs\/\">You\u2019ll find club sports like<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Baseball<\/li><li>Basketball<\/li><li>Cheerleading<\/li><li>Ski\n&amp; Snowboard<\/li><li>Ultimate\nFrisbee<\/li><li>And\nmore&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With more than 275 clubs at UML, you\u2019re sure to find something that will keep you busy outside of class and help you make new friends.
